The Forbidden City of Beijing
The Forbidden City was the Imperial Palace of China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Altogether, 24 emperors had resided there. Regarded as “The Sea of Palaces”; it has over 9000 splendid halls, covering a total area of over 720 thousand square meters. The Forbidden City is the largest living ancient architectural group of the Chinese style in the world, and is listed by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Item for its unique architecture. As “the Palace Museum”, it currently presents artistic treasures of Chinese dynasties throughout Chinese history.
