Thangka
Jiayam became a monk at the age of 15 and was selected cantor at 18. For an apprentice monk, this was a special honour. Jiayam studied Thangka painting, and soon became an excellent painter, especially at painting the mandala which demonstrates a microcosm of the universe. The various shapes and colors symbolize the multiple energies of the Buddha.
However, Jiayam is distressed because he wants to conduct his retreats. Retreats practitioners are required to study Buddhism and meditate form months to several decades. Should he now give up all and start to carry out his retreats?
