On the Sage of Confucius
Confucius was a great thinker, statesman and educator and founder of the Confucian school of thought in China. When Confucius was alive, he was known as the “Sage Bestowed by Heaven”, and one of the most knowledgeable scholars in society. Later generations honored him with such titles as “Ultimate Sage” and “Model Teacher of All Ages”. His political thinking was the main supporting force for the Chinese feudal system that lasted more than 2,000 years. The morality and ethics advocated by Confucius have cultivated the dominant moral views of the Chinese people. The emperors of past dynasties held Confucius in high esteem. Accordingly, his temple, graveyard and mansion have a history of more than 2,000 years. The temple and ceremony of Confucius and the Kong Family Mansion were included on the World Heritage list in 1994. In 1988, 75 winners of the Nobel Prize published a joint declaration in Paris, calling on:”Human existence in 21st century to draw on the wisdom taught by Confucius more than 2,000 years ago.” Today, Confucius’ wisdom is shared all around the world.

聖人之道
孔子（公元前551年－公元前479年），是中國古代偉大的政治家、思想家、教育家、儒傢學派的創始人。孔子在世時已被譽爲“天縱之聖”，是當時社會上最博學的學者之一。後世將他尊稱為至聖（即聖人中的聖人）、萬世師表。孔子的政治思想，是中國持續兩千餘年封建體製的主要支撑力量；孔子的倫理思想，塑造了中國人的主體人格。中國歷代帝王都大力推崇孔子，他的廟宇、墓地和府邸也因此而擁有了延綿兩千多年的建造歷史，并于1994年入選《世界遺産名錄》。1988年，75位諾貝爾獎獲得者在巴黎發表聯合宣言，呼籲“21世紀人類要生存，就必須汲取兩千年前孔子的智慧。”今天，孔子的聲名已經遠播全世界。
